For the permgen item, please use this doc to update the Ambari memory configuration: http://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/Ambari-2.1.2.0/bk_ambari_views_guide/content/ch_using_ambari_views.html

Hey @terry@hortonworks.com, please use the following docs for the Ambari Agent sudo commands, but for flexibility sake I would add sudo rights to your non-root user for 'sudo ambari-server' so that future JAAS setup, or reconfiguration will be covered. http://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/Ambari-2.1.2.0/bk_Ambari_Security_Guide/content/_configuring_ambari_for_non-root.html

I'm working on adding an (Optional) step in this doc: http://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/Ambari-2.1.2.0/bk_Ambari_Security_Guide/content/_launching_the_kerberos_wizard_automated_setup.htmlthat mentions how to alter the Advanced krb5-conf template to include another kdc entry. That's all you need to do to @hkropp's point is mention each individual KDC and the Kerberos client will deal with failover in the event one is unavailable. Something like this: kdc = {{kdc_host}}
kdc = host2.hortonworks.local
kdc = host3.hortonworks.local The {{kdc_host}} is substituted for the host that you have configured in the KDC Host input field. In future versions we'll make this KDC Hosts (comma-separated) to make it easier.

Using views requires increasing both the Xmx and MaxPermSize, documentation mentioning that is located here: http://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/Ambari-2.1.2.0/bk_ambari_views_guide/content/ch_using_ambari_views.html. If you hit this dead lock again please capture the jstack output for the Ambari Server process and work with support to see what the issue is.

Hey @rxu@hortonworks.com, there is no single action to decomission all components (NM, RS, DN). Only individual decommission operations for each. It's easy enough to decomission each component at the same time, but to @Andrew Grande's point, the DataNode will take the most time to decommission depending on the settings for bandwidth/replication and amount of data on stored on the node.

AMS is not certified separately, so you should use the Ambari version to identify stack compatibility: http://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/Ambari-2.1.2.0/bk_Installing_HDP_AMB/content/_determine_stack_compatibility.html
