@Marcia Hon you are installing Red Hat rpm packages and your command to install is yum but your error message is for Ubuntu, which OS are you using? Please make sure you're using the same packages as your OS requires.

it just means the bits are identical for either version of OS. Instead of building redundant bits we package el6 in RHEL7 repos. I confirmed that our repo only has el6 for both 2.4.2 and 2.5. How did you get the error? Was it an Ambari managed cluster or manual install.

Applying patches is technically possible though not supported by HWX. you will have to fetch the right build of Hive, compile, deploy and update symlinks. HDP 2.5.x is right around the corner, cross your fingers that the said patch is included. I'd love to confirm it but latest release notes have not been published.

Upgrading to HDP 2.3 you have to use Ambari 2.0, using Ambari 2.1 to upgrade to 2.3 is not supported. http://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/Ambari-2.1.2.1/bk_upgrading_Ambari/content/_ambari_upgrade_guide.html Ambari 2.1 does not support directly upgrading from HDP 2.0 or HDP 2.1 to HDP 2.3. In order to upgrade from HDP 2.0 or HDP 2.1, you must first upgrade to HDP 2.2 using either Ambari 1.7 or 2.0. Once completed, upgrade your current Ambari to Ambari 2.1. Then, leverage Ambari 2.1 to complete the upgrade from HDP 2.2 to HDP 2.3.

@ARUN please keep in mind that by setting this property you're giving load balancer algorithm limited information about the load on your cluster. It will impact it's ability to balance the regions.
