You cannot do this. This is not supported as @Artem Ervits has already stated. Imagine what would happen to writes when clusters span multiple data centers? Remember, networks are assumed to be unreliable and unsecured. Now, I hate to say this and please don't do it as it is unsupported but amazon offers VPC which makes AWS an extension of your network using a VPN.

Makes sense. Once I create two groups then I run the script in article once per group I guess. I'll try this sometime this week and let you know how it worked out. Thanks.

Hello, No solution to this issue, except re-installing the cluster! Before doing so, we have renamed the HDFS directories in order to preserve the data. rgds Laurent

I just peeked in the Training support system (the one triggered by emailing certification@hortonworks.com) and it looks like we're been able to discuss these items with you.
