There is a blog post that takes you through the process of installing Kognitio on Hortonworks. In addition, Kognitio did some benchmarking against various SQL on Hadoop offerings using the industry standard TPC-DS data and query set. You can see the comparison with Hive LLAP by following this link.

Whilst the chennuri gouri shankar answer with a link to the Hadoop Connector allows an existing Kognitio instance to connect to a Hadoop cluster, you can also run Kognitio as a YARN application on your Hadoop cluster, which has a number of benefits: you don't need separate hardware for running Kognitio you will get better performance if the Kognitio software is running locally, on the same platform as the data you can use Kognitio on Hadoop free for any scale, no functionality restrictions, and no time limit. For more details on downloading and using Kognitio on Hadoop see on-hadoop Note that if you have problems getting permission to evaluate new software on your in-house Hadoop cluster(s), you can try on Amazon EMR (for free, except for the costs of the Amazon resource).
