Yes! After working through product support, we figured out that Ambari 2.5.2 is the key to transitioning to upgraded OS. In our case RH 7.2.

@Mathi Murugan, I am looking at the same thing. There should be NO REASON for this to be difficult. Each set of hosts with different OS's (as long as part of an effort to upgrade the base OS for the respective hosts) would have access to their own repositories should not be so complex to apply. But Alas, this is. There are many inquiries about this very issue and all are simply not simple, no pun intended. This is supposed to be an open system. Logically, this makes no sense to not only adding new hosts to an existing cluster with a newer OS, but it should also be a better process to upgrade in place. Maybe I am expecting an unattainable outcome, not sure. But there has to be a clear path to address OS upgrades for large scale deployments

This is not a viable answer when you have scores of hosts (over 80 and growing) involved. you are talking hours and hours of downtime. That simply is not realistic in a production (let alone a testing) cluster.

Sorry this was not an answer, just expressing concerns as to the workload Ambari can handle. This is the primary tool for our Admins and Support Staff, if opening up to end-users, I have concerns about the workload and demands on Ambari that users will introduce.

I have concerns about hundreds... YES hundreds of users using Ambari Views. Currently our Admins and Infrastructure teams (about 20) have access to Ambari in both Admin privilege and View only access. What are the deployment implications for opening up the door to users currently using HUE to use Ambari Views?

I know this is an old post. However, I did send out a support inquiry as to WHEN 5.7 will be supported and got the response that it was being tested for Ambari v2.5. That was very early this year. There are various vulnerabilities identified by Oracle related to not running higher than 5.7.11. In particular, the vulnerabilities cover: MySQL Server 5.6.29 and earlier, 5.7.11 and earlier. There are no workarounds or alternatives for this issue...Not good. I am referring to Oracle Support Note 2120034.1 for the preferred solution. This issue was identified by our security team in May 2016. So, my question is this. WHEN will 5.7.11+ be supported?
