@Madhura Mhatre Correct, Metrics Monitor and HST Agent are not master component. So you can just Stop them and then Delete the host.

@Achim Drescher The error which you are getting as [Service: AmazonEC2; Status Code: 400; Error Code: InvalidAMIID.NotFound] indicates "Missing Image" https://docs.aws.amazon.com/systems-manager/latest/userguide/automation-troubleshooting.html As this error is very specific to AWS and hence i think AWS forums can be much faster in getting this issue resolved.

@Madhura Mhatre 1. How do get all components for that host? Is it from ambari Ambari
UI -->Hosts(Tab)-->Click on your hostname and it will show all the
components right? I also see some clients installed but no stop button
for clients... >>>> Yes, you can get the list of components installed ona host using the Ambari
UI -->Hosts(Tab)-->Click on your hostname >>>> Clients need not be started/stopped. So there is no Button to stop/start clients. 2. How do I remove those? or there is no need to remove those clients? >>>> Just stop the components which are running. Then you should be able to delete the host. However if you ahve any Master component installed to the host like Ambari Metrics Collector then better to delete it from that host and add it to another host of that cluster. NOTE: Ambari can show messages as following when you try to delete a Host: ------> "Deletion of the following x components is not supported." and will list the components names which needs service deletion. 3. Do I need to delete the components or just stopping would work? >>>> If you want to Delete a Host from your cluster then it should not be having any running components. Please stop them first. 4. Do you think I will have to restart any services / ambari server after deleting the host? >>>> Depends, which kind of config changes might happen due to the host deletion where the components are installed. Ambari can show messages as following when you try to delete a Host: "Deletion of the following x components is not supported." like for example you will see "Delete" button is disabled on your Ambari UI hosts page for HiveServer2 , until you add another HiveServer2 on any other cluster node. Then only you will see that the HiveServer2 "delete" button becoms active. So for some master components needs to be either installed to some other node of the cluster Or the Whole service need to be deleted.

@Lenu K Unfortunately Prior to Ambari 2.7 in Ambari Ui there is no option to see which user has performed the operations. Ambari 2.7 screenshot: However in previous version of ambari like Ambari 2.6 you can check the "ambari-audit.log" to see the activities performed by the user. Example: # tail -f /var/log/ambari-server/ambari-audit.log 2018-10-04T23:44:21.489Z, User(admin), RemoteIp(101.142.180.147), Operation(Request from server), RequestType(POST), url(http://hd1.example.com:8080/api/v1/clusters/TestCluster/requests), ResultStatus(202 Accepted), Command(RESTART), Cluster name(TestCluster)
2018-10-04T23:44:21.535Z, User(admin), Operation(Restart all components for SmartSense), Status(IN_PROGRESS), RequestId(852) .

@Madhura Mhatre You will basically need to follow the below steps: 1. GET the list of host components mapped to that particular host while you want to remove. As you must have to stop those host components (not the whole service) before deletion. 2. DELETE all host components mapped to this host 3. DELETE the host It can be done via Ambari UI as well as using API calls. Uisng Ambari UI : You can delete the host from Ambari UI as well. https://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/Ambari-2.7.1.0/managing-and-monitoring-ambari/content/amb_delete_a_host_from_a_cluster.html Ambari UI --> Hosts (Tab) --> Click on your hostname --> On the hsot specific page you will see "Host Actions" > "Delete Host". Using Ambari API calls: You can refer to the "Removing a Host" section of the doc to find out the API calls: https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/AMBARI/Using+APIs+to+delete+a+service+or+all+host+components+on+a+host

@Aleksandar Rajic In HDP Sandbox the credentials will be something like following: 1. For SSH using terminal: # ssh root@localhost -p 2222
Enter Password: hadoop 2. Login to web terminal: http://localhost:4200
User: root
Password: hadoop NOTE: "localhost" is the loopback address so if you want to use the hostname then you will have to map the Hostname as mentioned in the below link. 3. In order to login to Ambari UI http://localhost:8080
User: admin
Password: admin You may want to take a look at the following link to get more details on this: https://hortonworks.com/tutorial/learning-the-ropes-of-the-hortonworks-sandbox/ . If you still face any issue in accessing the ambari server then please share the ambari-server.log and check if the port 8080 is listening? # ssh root@localhost -p 2222
Enter Password: hadoop
# ambari-server status
# netstat -tnlpa | grep 8080
# less /var/log/ambari-server/ambari-server.log
# ambari-server restart .

@Rog Fe de Leon So if you want to MySQL to be installed then you will need to make sure that your Host has the MySQL repository configured properly. Even Ambari will no longer automatically install GPL licensed MySQL Connector/J. If using Ambari with MySQL, you must first download JDBC drivers and configure Ambari to use them. https://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/Ambari-2.6.1.0/bk_ambari-release-notes/content/ambari_relnotes-2.6.1.0-behavioral-changes.html

@Rog Fe de Leon From HDP 2.6.4, due to licensing issues mysql was removed. All the GPL licensed components will be removed from now. If you are using mysql for hive then you should install it by yourself. "Installing and Configuring MySQL" : https://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/HDP2/HDP-2.6.4/bk_command-line-installation/content/meet-min-system-requirements.html Source Reference HCC thread: https://community.hortonworks.com/questions/161888/mysql-community-server-package-not-found-on-hdp-ut.html . If you want to know how to setup MySQL database for Hive then you can refer to the following doc: https://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/Ambari-2.6.2.2/bk_ambari-administration/content/using_hive_with_mysql.html
