@kanna k Looks like you have configured HTTPS for you ambari server and accessing ambari server using HTTPS. And you do not have ambari truststore configured with the ambari certificate imported to it. Hence you are getting the following error: Caused by: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target . In order to resolve this issue: You case you will need to Ambari certificates to the Ambari truststore. 1. Setup Ambari Truststore as described in: https://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/Ambari-2.6.1.5/bk_ambari-security/content/set_up_truststore_for_ambari_server.html 2. Get the Ambari certificate as following: # echo | openssl s_client -showcerts -connect <AMBARI_HOST>:<AMBARI_HTTPS_PORT> 2>&1 | sed --quiet '/-BEGIN CERTIFICATE-/,/-END CERTIFICATE-/p' > /tmp/ambari_certificate.crt 3. Suppose if your ambari truststore file name is "truststore.jks" then import the ambari_certificate to it as following: # $JAVA_HOME/bin/keytool -importcert -file /tmp/ambari_certificate.crt -keystore truststore.jks 4. Restart Ambari Server. 5. Access the CS view again. .

@Ajay Jayswal Host metrics are available as part of the Ambari Metrics Monitor data collection. So can you please check if you have installed the Ambari Metrics Collector on your cluster and also the Ambari Metrics Monitor service is running fine on every Host of the cluster so that the ambari metrics monitor can collect the host metrics and send it to the AMS collector. . Please check the "/var/log/ambari-metrics-monitor/ambari-metrics-monitor.out". this file to see if the Monitor is able to properly communicate with the AMS collector or not? If you find any error then please also share the "ambari-metrics-collector.log" .

@Shota Akhalaia If there was no Ambari Server installed already or if the Ambari DB is lost (corrupted / no backups) then Ambari Takeover is a process which can be used. But it completely depends on which kind of components you have installed and it is usually a tough process to setup Ambari over an existing HDP cluster. But it can be achieved. Similar threads you can find here: https://community.hortonworks.com/questions/34197/can-ambari-manage-an-exists-hadoop-cluster-an-upda.html . https://community.hortonworks.com/questions/96817/monitoring-non-ambari-cluster-health-and-status.html .

@Shota Akhalaia If you have Ambari DB dump then you can install ambari to any new host or on the same host once again. The DB dump contains all the HDP configs and cluster details. 0. Stop all ambari-agents on all hosts. 1. You need to import the DB dump to the DB. 2. Install ambari-server any existing (or new) host. 3. Run the ambari server setup and then point to the same Database where you imported the DB. # ambari-server setup
Choose Existing database while setting up the DB part and point to your DB instance 4. Now edit all the ambari-agent hosts edit the file "/etc/ambari-agent/conf/ambari-agent.ini" and then point it to new ambari server host. Example: # grep 'hostname' /etc/ambari-agent/conf/ambari-agent.ini
hostname = amb25101.example.com . 5. Start the ambari Server # ambari-server start 6. Start ambari Agents on all hosts. # ambari-agent start .

@Biliyaminu Umar As per AMS specification the "appId" and "metricsNames" are the mandatory attributes. In case of metrics names in some places we can use Wild Cards like following: http://<server>:6188/ws/v1/timeline/metrics?metricNames=regionserver.Server.%&appId=hbase&startTime=1521167109&endTime=1521188709 . In the above case it will show all the "regionServer.Server.%" metrics. More details about wild card can be found here: https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/AMBARI/Metrics+Collector+API+Specification

@Dale Preston As soon as we open the https://hortonworks.com/downloads/#sandbox. somewhere at the bottom of the page it shows the popup blocker warning: . Once we click on the Download button like "Download for Virtualbox" then on the right side of the page it shows "Register Your Sandbox" popup with 3 Checkboxes. Once we accept those conditions and click on the "Submit" button then the download begins. So can you please let us know if you are able to click that button?

@Dale Preston Is your browser allowing Popups? Or is it blocking the popups? Please disable the popup blocker. It may be the browser policy which might be blocking the download. Can you please try from a different machine/laptop just for testing?

@Biliyaminu Umar You are using incorrect "appid" in your rest call. For HBase metrics it should be "appId=hbase" instead of "appId=ams-hbase" (this is for AMS HBase) http://<server>:6188/ws/v1/timeline/metrics?metricNames=master.Server.numDeadRegionServers._max&hostname=&appId=hbase&instanceId=&startTime=1521127341&endTime=1521148941 .
