@Mushtaq Rizvi Thanks for this, but I'm still doing something wrong but can't see what: [root@sandbox ~]# usermod -a -G solr solr [root@sandbox ~]# chown -R solr:solr /opt/lucidworks-hdpsearch/solr [root@sandbox ~]# su solr [solr@sandbox root]$ cp -R /opt/lucidworks-hdpsearch/solr/server/solr/configsets/data_driven_schema_configs /opt/lucidworks-hdpsearch/solr/server/solr/configsets/data_driven_schema_configs_hdfs [solr@sandbox root]$ /opt/lucidworks-hdpsearch/solr/server/solr/configsets/data_driven_schema_configs_hdfs/conf/solrconfig.xml bash: /opt/lucidworks-hdpsearch/solr/server/solr/configsets/data_driven_schema_configs_hdfs/conf/solrconfig.xml: Permission denied

Hi I'm trying to create a tweet collection and need to chance the owner for opt/lucidworks-hdpsearch/solr. However, when I attempt to do this i get 'Operation not permitted'. So then I attempted to run the command as sudo, however now I am being asked for the solr password. As far as I know i've not set one and i can't seem to locate a default username/password for solr. please can someone help? Thank you [solr@sandbox dashboards]$ chown -R solr:solr /opt/lucidworks-hdpsearch/solr chown: changing ownership of `/opt/lucidworks-hdpsearch/solr/server/solr-webapp/webapp/banana/app/dashboards/default.json': Operation not permitted [solr@sandbox dashboards]$ sudo -u hdfs hadoop fs chown -R solr:solr /opt/lucidworks-hdpsearch/solr We trust you have received the usual lecture from the local System Administrator. It usually boils down to these three things: #1) Respect the privacy of others. #2) Think before you type. #3) With great power comes great responsibility. [sudo] password for solr: Sorry, try again.

Hi Geoffrey, thanks for this link, I've also come across this, however i have data already coming in from twitter via flume and storing it in HIVE, therefor I was hoping to visualise the existing data stream i have from HIVE.

Hi I am currently storing live twitter feeds via flume in to Hive. Next I'd like to visualise the data in real-time. How best can I achieve this and what visualisation tool do you recommend I use (as a beginner). I've attempted to do this in Tableau desktop, but wasn't able to populate graphs in real time and had issues with formatting the twitter time/date stamp in tableau. Thanks!

Hi I'm trying to view the twitter agent log, however I can't as per below: [root@sandbox ~]# hdfs dfs -chmod 777 /user/flume/tweets chmod: changing permissions of '/user/flume/tweets': Permission denied. user=root is not the owner of inode=tweets [root@sandbox ~]# /var/log/flume/flume-TwitterAgent.log -bash: /var/log/flume/flume-TwitterAgent.log: Text file busy I'm trying to use flume to retrieve tweets based on some given keywords, but not having any luck, please can someone advise? Thanks Raf

Dear Colleagues I would like to follow this tutorial using Tableau http://hortonworks.com/hadoop-tutorial/how-to-refine-and-visualize-server-log-data/
If you’d like to use Tableau to explore the data, please see this HOWTO on the Hortonworks website: HOWTO: Connect Tableau to the Hortonworks Sandbox However, the 'HOWTO' link takes you to the community knowledge base instead of displaying the tutorial. Does anyone have a link to this tutorial, or to a similar tutorial please? Thank you in anticipation Raf
