Thanks a ton Namit. Your second suggestion worked i.e. set the value for dfs.namenode.http-address to 0.0.0.0:50070. Appreciate reasoning behind that. Also what do u mean by "Once the Namenode is out of safemode" Also I know I can not browser "user" folder thru UI bcoz of error "Permission denied: user=gopher, access=READ_EXECUTE, inode="/user":hadoop:hdfs:drwx--x--x".
