Java Critical Patch Update (CPU) Capability issues

Hi,

I am aware that Hortonworks supports Java 1.7 (All versions of HDP) and Java 1.8 (HDP 2.3+). But are there any capability issues for Java CPU? For instance Java 1.7_79 ? Are there any differences between using Open JDK and OracleJDK?

be aware there's a bug hitting 1.7.0_79+ on openjdk concerning token renewal : https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-10786

also on java 1.8
