There is a lot of information in this message. Please note we’ve updated our Certification FAQ to address the topics covered within this note.
Since Cloudera and Hortonworks merged earlier this year we have been working to define a new set of tools for training and certification based on our long-term goal of delivering a best-in-class experience for our customers reflective of the new Cloudera.
As we transition to a new platform for delivery of our certification exams Cloudera has suspended the delivery of the following exams from October 18th, 2019 through February 1, 2020:
- CCA Administrator
- CCA Spark and Hadoop Developer
- CCA Data Analyst
- CCP Data Engineer
For customers and partners in possession of CCA or CCP exam vouchers, leading up to February 1, 2019 the following will apply:
- Customers can access all Cloudera training classes; only Cloudera’s CCA and CCP certification exams are being suspended.
- For exam vouchers already purchased that do not expire by October 18, 2019, Cloudera will extend the eligibility period by four months. Exams may be scheduled for anytime on or after February 1, 2020.
We are also announcing the following Hortonwork Data Platform (HDP) exams will be retired and no longer offered as of December 6, 2019. Until this date, there will be no interruption in the scheduling or delivery of HDP exams.
- HDP Certified Developer (HDPCD)
- HDP Certified Spark Developer (HDPCSD)
- HDPCD and HDPCSD will be consolidated into the CCA exams focused on measuring competence with similar technologies.
Customers and partners who have purchased a certification voucher with the intention of attempting either of Hortonworks’ developer exams have the following options:
- Take the exam prior to December 6, 2019.
- Convert the exam voucher to a CCA Spark Developer or CCA Data Analyst exam voucher. The expiration date for the converted voucher will be extended two months, and exams may be scheduled for anytime on or after February 1, 2020. To do so, please contact certification@cloudera.com.
Delivery of the HDP Certified Administrator (HDPCA) exam will be suspended from December 6, 2019 through February 1, 2020 when it will be relaunched along with the CCA and CCP exams.
Customers and partners who’ve purchased a certification voucher with the intention of attempting the Hortonworks Administrator exam have the following options:
- Take the exam prior to December 6, 2019.
- Delay attempt of HDPCA exam until February 1, 2020 or later. (We will extend the voucher eligibility period by two months to accommodate those unable to attempt the exam prior to December 6, 2019.)
To ensure candidates are able to schedule their HDP exams by December 6, 2019, the final date to purchase HDP exam vouchers from Cloudera’s website was October 18, 2019.
We understand these decisions impact individuals who have been preparing for the exam, and regret any inconvenience this has caused.
