Announcing: Apache Kafka for CDH 5 GA

Dear CDH and Cloudera Manager Users,

We are pleased to announce the General Availability of Apache Kafka for CDH 5. Apache Kafka is a distributed publish-subscribe messaging system. It provides:

• Durability  and reliability

• Fault tolerance

• High concurrency

In addition to replacing traditional message brokers, Kafka is ideal for collecting user activity data, aggregating logs, obtaining operational application metrics, and device instrumentation.
