Cloudera Manager High Availability

Explorer

We are planning a production cluster and right now I already have the Mysql being replicated but only have one Cloudera Manager . However we need to patch etc and sometimes have to take downtime of the CM . Is there a way to add a 2nd cloudera manager to the same database ?

Hi Sam2020,

If you're running CDH 6.3 or below we do support CM HA:

https://docs.cloudera.com/documentation/enterprise/6/6.3/topics/admin_cm_ha_overview.html

If you're running a new version (CDP) we do not support CM HA yet.

@Sam2020 one more thing I forget to mention, replication is not the same as a backup, before doing any task that may jeopardize the databases, please make a full databases backup.

Hello, I have similar requirements. Our version is as follows:

Cloudera Manager: Cloudera Enterprise 7.1.4 (CDP Private Cloud Base7.1.4)

CDH: 6.3.4

Can CM HA be achieved in this way you provided: https://docs.cloudera.com/documentation/enterprise/6/6.3/topics/admin_cm_ha_overview.html

Thanks a lot.

We don't currently support CM HA in any version above CM 6.x.
