Error installing on ubuntu

Hi,

I am trying to install using the cloudera manager installer. It is failing with the following error:

W: Failed to fetch http://archive.cloudera.com/gplextras/ubuntu/precise/amd64/gplextras/dists/precise-gplextras4/Releas... Unable to find expected entry 'contrib/binary-i386/Packages' in Release file (Wrong sources.list entry or malformed file)

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks

This is a bit baffling. I created a new Trusty VM, installed CM with
the .bin installer and it went through fine. I checked my apt
repositories and there was no mention of Wheezy. Note that Wheezy is
Debian and Trusty is Ubuntu. The .bin installer would not add the
wheezy bits to /etc/apt

Are you using an older machine/vm for this experiment? Can you check
all files under /etc/apt to see if the wheezy repositories are
present?

From what it looks like, you have 32 bit ubuntu installed, we only support 64bit installation at this point.

The message says it cannot find "contrib/binary-i386" which means the OS might be 32-bit. Are you able to show us the output of "uname -a"?

Could you show us the output of /etc/apt/sources.list please?

sources.list contains repos for "trusty" whereas the earlier post was
looking at wheezy-cdh5. So I am a bit confused here. How did you
encounter the error message regarding Wheezy?
