Falcon & Oozie in Hue

avatar

Falcon doesn’t seem to replace the Hue Oozie Editor functionality. And it’s not clear how well it integrates with software build/deployment tools like SVN, Ant, or Maven.

There may be some issues with Hue 2* as well:

  1. We are running in Debian 7 OS
  2. Hue 3 made further improvements to Oozie editor which are not applied in our supported version of HUE

Also, has anyone tested HUE3 on HDP, including HBase editor etc. ?

Falcon uses Oozie as one of it's processing engines. When Processes are defined in Falcon, Oozie Workflow XML's are generated and then run using Oozie. This allows Falcon to provide dependency processing and other capabilities not available in Oozie.

Ozzie Editor capabilities are planned as a technical preview in HDP 2.5 as Workflow Designer. Workflow Designer will be available as an Ambari view or a stand-alone UI.

In addition, the Oozie Web UI capabilities will also be available as a technical preview in HDP 2.5 as a part Workflow Designer.

I don't see oozie workflow designer (either as standalone or as part of ambari view) in HDP 2.5 stack. Is this still in pipeline?
