Hadoop Database Query

Hello,
Whenever we have maintenance activity of our DB or DB Hosts, we have to bring our cluster down, I want to avoid this and was wondering if there is a way by which we could provide an Oracle VIP / Scan IP so that if one instance of the database is down Hadoop applications (Hive, Hue, Oozie, CM, etc which use DB) could connect to another instance, thus avoiding downtime.
Would like some guidance/information on this.

May be you can explore database balancer...

but here problem would be you need to keep both DBs in sync, it will add more cost to your project.

Balancer would not be possible, any idea on VIP /Scan IP?
