Hortonworks Data Cloud cluster create fails since yesterday

avatar

I have been testing Data Cloud successfully until yesterday, Right now a new cluster can no longer be deployed. It fails with the following error: HTTP response code: 403 for URL: http://s3.amazonaws.com/dev.hortonworks.com/HDP/centos6/2.x/BUILDS/2.5.0.1-31/repodata/repomd.xml

It seems a file is missing.......

Please help! I would like to continue my testing as it seems a very promising product.

Hi @Gerrit Slot. I'm glad the link helped.

There should be an announcement on the Hortonworks blog (http://hortonworks.com/blog/) and on HCC when we have new technical previews and once we reach the GA. You can follow @jeff on HCC to make sure that you get notified about all HDCloud announcements. I'll also plan on posting some documentation updates too, especially if Jeff doesn't do so.

You can also subscribe to get daily email notifications related to "hortonworks-cloud" tag. In both cases (following a specific user and a specific tag), you will be notified about all activity related to the person/tag, so I don't know if you would like that. I follow both Jeff and the "hortonworks-cloud".

If you don't want to subscribe to anything, you can keep on checking for announcements and for doc updates:

@Gerrit Slot Which TP version are you using? The latest technical preview available is TP #1.7. You can find the CFN links here http://hortonworks.github.io/hdp-aws/. Hope that helps.

@Dominika BThank you so much. This solved it! How can I follow the release schedule so I can anticipate on new upcoming releases? Don't want to bother you guys every few weeks and you're on a very high release pace.

@Gerrit Slot thank you for reaching out regarding your issues with TP #1.7. We have found the issue related to the repository and are working to correct it. And please watch our blog and HCC for announcements related to new releases and Technical Previews!

Thanks.

I have used the Hortonworks sandbox and am really excited to try the Data Cloud for building a larger cluster.

What's the status of the http://s3.amazonaws.com/dev.hortonworks.com/HDP/centos6/2.x/BUILDS/2.5.0.1-31/repodata/repomd.xml error raised by @Gerrit Slot ? I don't understand the thanks/"solved it" message to @Dominika B (no offense, Dominika!) I followed the steps at http://hortonworks.github.io/hdp-aws/ just now (Nov. 2nd) and got a very similar error:

Ambari cluster could not be created. Reason: Cannot use the specified
Ambari stack: HDPRepo{stack='null'; utils='null'}. Error:
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Could not access base url .
	http://s3.amazonaws.com/dev.hortonworks.com/HDP/centos6/2.x/BUILDS/2.4.10.0-80
. Server returned HTTP response code: 403 for URL:
	http://s3.amazonaws.com/dev.hortonworks.com/HDP/centos6/2.x/BUILDS/2.4.10.0-80

I haven't stopped the partial cluster, so I can try suggestions or provide additional logs.

thanks,

Mark

Hi @Mark Miller

Apologies for the confusion. We have fixed the repositories for the HDP 2.5 software (2.5.0.1-31 below) but are still fixing the HDP 2.4 software (2.4.10.0-80).

Can you use an HDP 2.5 cluster configuration instead of HDP 2.4?

Thanks,

Jeff

Great. That worked. No need to apologize when you're offering something nice for free.
