Hortonworks HDP installation on AWS

Hi All,

I am trying to install Hortonworks HDP installation on AWS through Ambiari. When I access Ambari REPO (ubuntu), it says I need to provide my Cloudera login details.Though I provided the correct login it throws an error 403 FORBIDDEN.

Question is, how we can download the Hortonworks HDP? I understand Cloudera and Hortonworks are merged, but my requirement is I bought a very good Udemy video on Ranger that involes HDP installation. For this reason I am asking this question.

Please help me as a community user how can I download the Ambari and HDP repos?

I think the most likely explanation is that after the Udemy video was produced and made available for sale, Cloudera changed the download policy and now to download the software you need a valid Subscription. Please see the announcement here: Transition to private repositories for CDH, HDP and HDF

I think the passage that is most pertinent to your situation is this one:

…beginning in February 2021, no versions of Cloudera Manager, CDH, Apache Ambari, HDP and HDF releases will be available via Cloudera's public repositories. Instead, all of the then-currently supported releases of Cloudera Manager, CDH, Ambari, HDP and HDF will be accessible only to active customers with valid subscription entitlements to these Cloudera products.

The credentials that one would need to access the private repository mentioned there are not the same ones used to access the other public areas of Cloudera's website, including the Cloudera Community. You can read more about the process for obtaining the credentials for accessing the private repository at the hyperlinks provided in the section labeled Installing/upgrading Ambari & HDP via Cloudera’s private repository in the same document.

Is it something that only currently supported Ambari and HDP binaries are present on cloudera repository?

How the lower versions of Ambari and HDP can be downloaded if valid access is received from cloudera.

I would again strongly recommend you closely read the announcement I linked to above, Transition to private repositories for CDH, HDP and HDF because it has a section labeled Installing/upgrading Ambari & HDP via Cloudera’s private repository that in turn has links to extensive documentation on how to download and install certain earlier versions of Ambari and HDP; to be specific:

• Ambari 2.6.x.x and HDP 2.6.5.0
• Ambari 2.7.x.x and HDP 3.x.x.x

…as far as whether or not earlier "versions of Ambari and HDP can be downloaded if valid access is received from cloudera", that question is addressed in that same announcement, which states:

…new patch releases of …Ambari have been made available and are required to access Cloudera’s private repositories, which now contain these new and existing releases. Versions other than those outlined below will no longer be able to install CDH, HDP or HDF from Cloudera’s public repositories.
