Creating an internal user name of 5 digits is not working correctly.

@Neeraj - the username should be at least 2 character long. Hence Ranger Admin failed to accept names with a singe character - like "a" or "b".
The issue faced by @terry@hortonworks.com is HDP-2.2 specific, where Ranger requires the username should begin with an alphabet. @terry@hortonworks.com - can you please confirm if you see this in HDP-2.2 and if starting a username with an alphabet works?

What you mean by "is not working correctly"? Any errors on the UI or in the log?
It should be possible, I have created users like solr, admin, user1, ...

The response from the UI is "enter a valid user name". I will try again.

Minimum is 2 letters
Maximum > 30 letters
Just tested it on my cluster. What version of Ranger do you have?

It was not a length problem. The user is not a member of the group he is being added into. There is an odd mix of LDAP users and local groups in the test environment. You should enter the length as the answer since that is the question I asked. Then I can accept the answer. Thanks.

Do you mean username like "12345"?

Ranger in HDP-2.2 requires usernames to begin with an alphabet. This was relaxed in HDP-2.3 (RANGER-318), which would allow usernames to start with an alphabet or a number.

See my latest reply ...Do you think we are missing something at UI level?
