Multi HiveServer2

Hi,

In support to multi-tenant environment. I have to create another HiverServer2. I have HDP-2.1 with TWO HiveServer2 and want THIRD HiveServer2 (as process) on Edge node. I am following HDP guidelines http://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/HDP2/

I issued the command (as per documentation) to start the HiveServer2 service and after passing more than 2-3 hours (The log says: "Starting HiveServer2" and the service is unavailable yet.

I would appreciate if you could share your experience/clue.

@KHURRAM NAZIR Are you using Ambari managed cluster?

Thank you for your post.

Correct, server is managed by Ambari. But hdp 2.1 with ambari doesn't allow to add Hiveserver2 via Ambari. Thus, im adding manually hiveserver2.

Are you using Ambari 2.1 and HDP-2.2+? Ambari documentation has instructions to add new HiveServer2 to a node in the cluster.

I already clearly mentioned that i'm using HDP-2.1.

Did you mean just to add a new HiveServer2 process, I need another node?
