Hello,
Can someone briefly explain the purpose of the cbgateway node when using cloudbreak?
- Any recommendations around minimum aws instance sizes to satisfy its requirements?
- Can this node be turned into an edge node with client libraries?
Thanks,

Hi @mliem,
From Cloudbreak version 1.4 we don't use cbgateway node. It's function was running Ambari, in newer versions of Cloudbreak one designated hostgroup - with one node - will be the Ambari server node. You can configure it when you start a cluster (under 'Choose Blueprint' tab).

Valid for Release 1.3

We use m3.large for this node with 100GB mount used for logs and postgres database of ambari-server.
Can this node be turned into an edge node with client libraries?
No, this node does not have ambari-agent installed it only have ambari-server and its database.

"Any recommendations around minimum aws instance sizes to satisfy its requirements?" It is hardly depends on for example your cluster size and load. I suggest to ask Ambari experts, they know much more about Ambari server system requirements.
