Hi, I'm planning to upgrade my CM and CDH 5.8 to CM, CDH 6.3 but my Rhel OS Version is just 7.2, planning also to upgrade it to 7.4. just want to know if, what steps need to made? do I need to upgrade the OS first then upgrade my cloudera? or I'll upgrade the OS then uninstall cloudera, then after the OS Upgrade, i'll reinstall cloudera?

@Mondi You can choose any convenient path. Both CM/CDH 5.x and 6.x support RHEL7.2.
So you can upgrade the CM/CDH first and then perform an OS upgrade. See the below docs for help.

First, check the OS compatibility by using a given doc link https://docs.cloudera.com/cdp/latest/upgrade-cdh/topics/ug_os_upgrade_before.html then, if the OS version is fine then you can go ahead and upgrade your Cluster.
Also, I have checked the CM/CDH version 6.3.x is supporting RHEL 7.2. So you can go ahead and upgrade your CDH cluster. Please find the below document to upgrade CDH cluster.

Hi @akriti thanks for confirming, also we are planning to upgrade our cluster to 6.3 cdh version, then after that we will upgrade the OS from 7.2 to 7.4. Will there be any effect on the cloudera installed on the servers that we want to have an OS upgrade? May we know what is the best practice for this? Thanks!

Hi @akriti based on the link you gave, it is safe to say that once I've upgraded my cluster to 6.3, its okay to have an OS upgrade from 7.2 to 7.4? I just need to decom the servers needed for OS upgrade. Also need to reinstall the CM in the server that I'm having the oS upgrade?
