Refer the below url fo impala version in CDH 5.11.1 it is impala-2.8.0+cdh5.11.1+0 https://www.cloudera.com/documentation/enterprise/release-notes/topics/cdh_vd_cdh_package_tarball_511.html The kernel version that you are pointing does have a SIGBUS JRE issue The latest kernel update causes a JRE CRASH ( JAVA STACK ). Refer the below link for more information about this . http://community.cloudera.com/t5/Cloudera-Manager-Installation/Impala-Catalog-Server-supervisor-permissions/m-p/56749#M11072

I belive you are having a runining namenode instances under HDFS . When you should the namenode instance - the format will be enabled . while it is runining it is disabled . But you should do the name format by carefully calculating the impact . Hadoop namenode directory contains the fsimage and edit files which holds the basic information's about hadoop file system such as where is data available, which user created files (meta data )
If you format the namenode then the above information's are deleted from namenode directory which is specified in the hdfs-site.xml as dfs.namenode.name.dir
But you would still left out with datas on the hadoop but not namenode meta data refernce.

You cant renew 60 days When it is expired it goes to Cloudera Express , you dont have to reboot or bounce the cluster (You may wish to plan however, so that all features restart in their stable Express version state. There features that you will not get thinks like Rolling restart , navigator , rollback configuration etc . I think for POC it is suffice . Let me know if you need any more information. "License Expiration When a Cloudera Enterprise [or Enterprise Trial] license expires, the following occurs: Cloudera Enterprise Data Hub Edition Trial - Enterprise features are no longer available." The specific Enterprise features that will become unavailable are detailed on the Product Comparision page [b]. [a] - http://www.cloudera.com/content/cloudera/en/documentation/core/latest/topics/cm_ag_licenses.html#cmu... [b] - http://www.cloudera.com/content/cloudera/en/products-and-services/product-comparison.html Parcel management remains available after the Enterprise Trial license expires.

if your cluster is managed by Cloudera manager , I would use it for decommissioning rather doing it manually , it more safe and recommended.
