well, as I said above, the credentials necessary to access Cloudera's private repository are not generally the same as those used to access Cloudera's website. You will not be able to access Cloudera's private repository without a Cloudera subscription. You can initiate the process for obtaining a Cloudera subscription by contacting the Cloudera Sales Team to find out more about subscription options, but before doing so you should understand that Cloudera Express was discontinued over a year ago now; please see the announcement here: Cloudera Enterprise 6.3.3 Released …scroll down to the subsection Important Note About Cloudera Express. This means that you are not going to be able to obtain a subscription in order to continue to use Cloudera Express.

Hi @Winne, Your question went into a thread that was over three years old. You would have a better chance of receiving a prompt and satisfactory resolution by starting a new thread. This will also be an opportunity to provide details specific to your environment that could aid others in assisting you with a more accurate answer to your question. You can link this thread as a reference in your new post.

Hi @Gregonmac, Two questions arise right away: Are you really attempting to download the CDH source code for 5.4.3 and 5.12.1 or are you trying to obtain the binaries/packages for those two legacy versions? Do you have a valid Cloudera subscription? The reason I ask the second question is because on the same page(s) you cited (e.g., CDH 5.4.x Download Information), you should also have seen a highlighted box with the following final sentence: For more information, see Updating an existing CDH/Cloudera Manager deployment to access downloads with authentication. Following that hyperlink would lead you to a page explaining that: …To access the binaries at the locations below, you must first have an active subscription agreement and obtain a license key file along with the required authentication credentials (username and password). Emphasis added. I think the most likely explanation for why you are getting an HTTP 403 Authentication failed error message is that you are not using the correct credentials, assuming that you do not have a valid Cloudera subscription. if you are in fact seeking binaries, hopefully you are aware that earlier this year, Cloudera modified its repositories and you are also aware that the binaries you are seeking to download are now only available in a private repository. If not, please see the announcement here: Transition to private repositories for CDH, HDP and HDF The credentials to access this private repository are not generally the same ones you would use to access Cloudera's website or the Cloudera community. Instead, people with a valid Cloudera subscription can generate repository credentials from a CDH license key. See Obtain Credentials

Hi @shashidharh Someone with the requisite expertise in this area might yet weigh in on this thread, but I think the best way to get answers to these questions would be to get in contact with your Cloudera account rep and ask them. Failing that, you can always read the relevant section of the public docs for Cloudera Enterprise 5.16.x here: Managing Licenses …scroll down to the subsection License Expiration. As far as your use of a trial license, that same page says: You can use a trial license only once; when the 60-day trial period expires or you have ended the trial, you cannot restart the trial. With the trial license, you can upgrade to a Cloudera Enterprise license or downgrade to an express license. So if you, for example, inherited this cluster and you are not certain that a trial license wasn't used before it would be wise to not rely on using a trial license, because that option might have already been exhausted. Also, keep in mind that page was published quite a while ago, and Cloudera Express was discontinued over a year ago now; please see the announcement here: Cloudera Enterprise 6.3.3 Released …scroll down to the subsection Important Note About Cloudera Express. I would not expect a downgrade to an express license to now actually work in practice. It might, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Hi @it2manager Hopefully you are aware that earlier this year, Cloudera modified its policies and the binaries you are seeking to download are now only available in a private repository. If not, please see the announcement here: Transition to private repositories for CDH, HDP and HDF The same announcement describes new patch releases of Ambari, which are now required to access Cloudera’s private repositories, which now contain both newer and legacy releases of HDP. The credentials necessary to access this private repository are only available to active Cloudera customers with valid subscription entitlements to those Cloudera products.

Hi @Ramalinga This is a frequently-asked question, and I think some clarification is in order. Cloudera never had a version of the Cloudera Quickstart VM based on CDH 6 publicly available. The last publicly available version of the Cloudera Quickstart VM was based on CDH 5.13, which was old, outdated and in fact that version of CDH went out of support in the Fall of last year. Cloudera has never officially supported the QuickStart VM. The Cloudera Quickstart VM hasn't been available for download from Cloudera's website for some time now. As far as preparing for the CCA-175 certification, Cloudera certification has never publicly provided any training VM for free download, as based on each exam's recommendation, Cloudera suggests users attend the offered Cloudera training courses (virtual or OnDemand) as preparation for exams. And of course, the exercise environments used in Cloudera classes are based on a much more up-to-date version of Cloudera's data platform than the last version of the QuickStart VM. As far as a docker image, if you really must have a CDH-based image…well, I haven't looked at it recently, but as mentioned in this thread, you can try downloading a docker image of CDH from docker hub which, last time I checked, was still available publicly on https://hub.docker.com/r/cloudera/quickstart or simply run the below command to download this on docker enabled system: docker pull cloudera/quickstart According to the tags applied to the distribution available on docker hub, the last update was five (5) years ago. You might want to consider that before installing it. If you're looking for a current data platform to install on premises, you can currently do so without a preexisting Cloudera subscription by downloading the Trial Version of CDP Private Cloud Base Edition of Cloudera Data Platform.

@blubberschwaetz, Cloudera's lifecycle support policies are documented here: https://www.cloudera.com/legal/policies/support-lifecycle-policy.html Cloudera Enterprise 6.1 is supported until the end of December 2021, so yes an installation of CDH6.1.1 will quickly become an outdated, unmaintained platform and you should inform your customer of that fact if they are not aware of it already. You can find the most recent official reminder of the previous announcement that Cloudera Enterprise 6.x will be reaching End of Support (EoS) in 2021 here: March 2021 Customer Advisory - 2: End of Support for Cloudera Products (CDH/CM 6.x & HDP 3.x) I don't know that anyone at Cloudera can help you if you are struggling to get along with Cloudera's policies; those policies govern the use of Cloudera's software. If you are not a formal Cloudera partner and you do not have a valid subscription, no one at Cloudera will be able to give you credentials or "a download link to be used without credentials" to be able to access Cloudera's private repository in order to install CDH 6.1.1 on your premises. And that is true regardless of whether or not the resulting installed system would be used for testing third-party software or for production use. If you're not willing to enter into a partnership agreement with Cloudera, your next most straightforward solution would be to acquire a Cloudera subscription yourself. You can get started toward that goal by contacting the Cloudera Sales Team to find out more about your subscription options. Otherwise, no, I have no ideas on how who to solve your case.

@Vallanon, You can always contact the Cloudera Sales Team via this web page to find out more about your subscription options. I obviously don't know what you said or wrote when you contacted them in May, and I have not heard anything from anyone in Cloudera Sales regarding your inquiry, but if you indicated you were just looking for data platform software to "download and use for evaluation", then I am guessing that the person in sales who took up your request concluded that you would not need assistance since Cloudera's standard response to evaluation requests, the Trial Version of CDP Private Cloud Base Edition of Cloudera Data Platform, is available for download without any assistance from Cloudera Sales.

Hi @Abhanshu While we welcome your question, and it will remain visible here in the hope that some member of the Cloudera Community will answer it, you would be much more likely to obtain a suitable solution if you posted it to the appropriate MSDN Azure Forum for HDInsight.
