I am not able to reset ambari as it is saying i need to use DDL scripts for the remote DB host. Could you tell me how i can use Ambari-DDL-MySQL-DROP.sql to remove everything from mysql server and then use Ambari-DDL-MySQL-CREATE.sql to recreate the schema? There are other Databases running on the same mysql host, so i want to be careful not to delete any other tables.

I am trying to install a new cluster and in the process i configured ambari to talk to a remote mysql db running on a different machine in the cluster. However when I try to start the ambari, it is failing to start because it is trying to connect to the local db which doesnt exisits. I checked ambari.properties file to see if i have the correct hostname for the remote mysql db. The properties file looks fine. Is there any other place i need to check to see if it has the correct remote db hostname configured? Please advise

I am unable to restart Zookeeper on one of the nodes in the cluster due to the mount where Zookeeper Directory is pointing to is full. So how can i safely remove/archive some of the files that are under zookeeper directory? and also what kind of data does Zookeeper records? Is it safe to remove them on one particular Zookeeper node while the cluster is up and running? please advise I see bunch of files in the following format 1. log.170003cfd4 2. snapshot.170003cfd4

@Neeraj Sabharwal I also asked the customer to wait for the full version but they would like to know the process if they need to apply a patch for any reason. I tried to look for source code in the git hub but Some of the links that are present in the details section are broken
for example .. for https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AMBARI-10285, i tried to get the code but there seems to be no link working ..https://builds.apache.org/job/Ambari-trunk-Commit/2154/ Is there a place i need to look for the actual source for any given patch?

One more follow-up question: Customer has to download the patched files from git-hub and upload them on to their cluster? do we have any instructions per patch or generic level for them to follow?

@Jonas Straub Thanks for your quick reply but could you also answer the question # 2 The same question in case we reboot the secondary namenode?

I have seen repos and binaries for major releases but where can we find binaries/repo for the patches For example, say we find an issue with the ambari-metrics group of rpm’s. Where would I find an example of a patch to update the software contained in ambari-metrics. Another example: Say there is a bug in HDFS. Where would I find an example patch for the HDP 2.3.4.0 version of HDFS (one that doesn’t include the entire distribution of HDP, but only updates that specific version of HDFS)?

A few questions on ambari blueprint and Rest API Can someone please answer these questions? 1) After installing an HA cluster via blueprint, do we need to initialize the metadata on secondary namenode manually? 2) The same question in case we reboot the secondary namenode. 3) Can we monitor the status of Ambari agents through REST API?

@Neeraj Sabharwal and @Jonas Straub There is a follow up question on Timeline and History Server .. Could you please take a look at this and let me know your input on how best we can answer this issue .. Client Says: "So how would loosing Timeline server impact YARN (or any other services)? Does it have any impact on ResourceManagers or the map reduce jobs? I have the same question about History Sever. And would it be possible to install and configure Timeline server on two nodes in the cluster and store their data in a replicated file system (via drbd)? In this case the clients will be using a floating IP address in order to connect to the active Timline server."
