I'd like to know if modifying hst-server.ini file directly rather than running hst setup has any unintended consequences. I just edited the file and I see that changes took effect in SmartSense UI. The goal is to run a bash script and change configuration to automate smartsense setup.

Did you put the service into stopped state and stop any components? List all of the service components.

The purpose is to demonstrate pig hcatalog functionality. You can execute queries against hcatalog managed Hive tables from Pig. If you don't want to work with same table from Hive or Pig, it is not necessary.

Also if you use vagrant to provision VMs please avoid using VM GUI as you can accidentally disassociate your VMs from vagrant keys and also cause vagrant lose ssh permission. I had that happen to me and restoring access is not intuitive.
