@Prakash Punj Good lesson learned for all of us. It is a good practice to save a file with a name like hue.ini.old for anything unix. Hue is not the only that reads all .ini files from a directory.

@ripunjay godhani If your application has direct access to the Hadoop cluster, then that application server is your "edge" node. However, the fact that you don't need it in your special case, it does not mean is not a good practice because they are in the same network. That is not the explanation. @SBandaru explanation is valid and a best practice for those cases he mentioned.

@rbiswas What about adding new host and assign it at the same time to a specific rack? I'd like to avoid the host (data node) and then have to set the rack and restart again. Is there a way via Ambari UI?

@david serafini OpenJDK and Oracle JDK have almost the same code, but Oracle JDK has more classes and more bugs fixed and is thoroughly tested and stable. There is no incentive yet to use OpenJDK over Oracle JDK at least not until Oracle starts to charge for it. The decision of the business is to use the most stable and scalable. This is pretty much the rule for any business selling or using enterprise level software.
