This is fantastic Bgooley! Your solution worked. The cloned VM indeed had the same UUID as the parent. As per your instructions, we stopped the scm agent, deleted the uuid and restarted scm agent. We then added the node to the cluster via Cloudera Manager and it got registered correctly. We can now see both the VM nodes. Thank you so much! Appreciate your help.

Hi, We have the same problem i.e. when we use 2 clones of the same VM and try to connect the Master node to them, only one of them is visible at a time. We have gone through the thread above and made sure that - i) Hostnames of the 2 VMs are different ii) Hostids of the 2 VMs are different iii) /etc/hosts has names and IPs of all 3 machines i.e. Master, Node1 and Node2 iv) Physical addresses of the 2 VMs is different However, the problem persists. Any further inputs into what could be causing the issue please? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Regards, Yogesh

Your tip was spot on Umesh! We realised that as a part of installing CDH 5.5 and Spark, the default configuration for the parameters you mentioned, were changed (not sure how). We restored them to the default values and were able to run Pyspark and Spark-shell. Many thanks for your help.

Thanks Michalis. I realise that once the ssh password is changed on the SSH screen (as shown in your response), it will be picked up seamlessly. However, if I change the 'cloudera' user's password via the Linux command line, will it impact any of the Hadoop services e.g. after the password change, will services like HDFS/MR/Hbase/Hive/Zookeeper stop working because they were originally configured to run using a different password?

Hi, We have set up a CDH 4.7 cluster. As a part of the process, we have created the 'cloudera' user on Linux and used Cloudera Express to set up the cluster. I am now thinking of changing the password for 'cloudera'. Are there any implications of changing the password? e.g. I realise that my ssh connectivity between the nodes uses 'cloudera' user so will have to be changed to use the new password. However, will any of the services like MR or HDFS or Hive or Hbase stop running? Any other potential implications? Thanks in advance. Regards, Yogesh
