Is incremental load to Solr is possible? Meaning that If the dataset set that is going to load in the solr has some unique keys ( with or without update in other fields of the record) that are already present in the solr collection, I want existing records get updated and new record get inserted in Solr collection. Could you please let me know if it is possible in Solr or not. If yes, please advice in achieving the same.

I agree with Clint, Bulk Loading into HBase every 3 minutes is too often and will cause a ton of compactions. To remedy the splits you should have an overall understanding of what your data will look like 6 months - 1 year from now and pre-split the table upon creation. This should give you enough regions to load all of your data without having to split everytime. This is a best practice for puts as well. Also with regards to Bulk Loading early versions of CDH4 had some issues with sequence numbers and I would advise moving to CDH 5.1.3.

Thank you.I am a newbie in this.Is there some difference in the way in which data is stored in hbase when you use thrift and rest?.Can data that was inserted using thrift be retrieved using rest?. Also from what I understand so far Avro is just a serialization framework which should not be directly compared to thrift or rest with respect to hbase.
