Cloudera’s Data In Motion team is pleased to announce the release of Cloudera Streaming Analytics 1.17.0 for on-premises deployments. This release focuses on enterprise-grade stability, enhanced security protocols for Kafka integration, and a modernized approach to extensibility through Python. Release Highlights Java Upgrade to JDK 17 CSA 1.17.0 is now built and verified using JDK 17, providing better performance and long-term support for modern Java applications. Proactive Vulnerability Management This release includes extensive core dependency upgrades specifically targeted at resolving CVEs, ensuring your production streaming pipelines remain secure and compliant. Enhanced Kafka Data Source Configurations Streaming data pipelines require precision. Cloudera Streaming Analytics 1.17.0 now allows users to specify custom properties for Kafka connections directly within the Kafka Data Source form. Furthermore, we have introduced explicit support for JKS, PKCS12, and BCFKS truststore and keystore types, ensuring seamless integration with the most stringent enterprise security standards. Transition to Python UDFs To provide a more robust and scalable developer experience, Cloudera Streaming Analytics 1.17.0 has fully transitioned to Python User-Defined Functions (UDFs). All legacy JavaScript UDF features have been removed. This move allows developers to leverage the rich Python ecosystem for complex stream processing logic while benefiting from improved performance and maintainability. Framework and UI Modernization The core frameworks underlying Cloudera SQL Stream Builder have been significantly upgraded. These updates are designed to resolve vulnerabilities (CVEs), improve overall platform stability, and provide a snappier, more responsive user interface for managing real-time SQL queries. Cloudera Platform Support CSA 1.17.0 is optimized for Cloudera on-premises 7.3.2.0. It is specifically engineered to support the new versions of core CDP components, including: Apache Kafka, Hadoop, Apache Atlas, and HBase. Expanded support for the latest Operating System and Database versions, ensuring compatibility with your modern data center infrastructure. Learn more about what’s new in Cloudera Streaming Analytics in the release notes. Getting the New Release Before upgrading to CSA 1.17.0, we recommend reviewing the migration path for your existing UDFs. Because JavaScript UDFs are no longer supported, users should rewrite existing logic in Python to ensure a smooth transition. For a deep dive into the technical requirements, please consult the Support Matrix and the 7.3.2.0 Release Notes. If you are a new user, start with our Installation Guide to set up your first Flink cluster on CDP.
