If you have enterprise version you could download the disk usage report and verify it and see which folder has the most of the files . https://www.cloudera.com/documentation/enterprise/5-9-x/topics/cm_dg_disk_usage_reports.html

Please verfy if your hdf instance like Namenode , Datanode are up and runining via Cloudera mif anager web ui . alternatively you can also fire sudo jps from the terminal ? or fire this command -> to check status
sudo service hadoop-hdfs-namenode status
to start
sudo service hadoop-hdfs-namenode start if you are curious about whats happening please check the agent logs or hadoop-hdfs logs /var/log/hadoop-hdfs/ -> u can see namenode ,datanode logs also you can check agent logs in this location - /var/log/cloudera-scm-agent/

When the cluster is managed by Cloudera manager , its bad approach to manually edit the local file . Cloudera manager by design will not pick up the changes . You should push the changes using Cloudera manager web ui -> hive ->configuration -> advace config / safety valve . it would should us stale and restart of the service would be needed . Hope this helps .
