Thanks @tusharkathpal . Is there a easy way to determine the cause of the failure (catalog server vs resource crunch), given that it happens fairly inconsistent in my case.

Hi Dwill, Is it worked for you Sqoop import with ssl enabled oracle db ? I got the same kind of requirement to use sqoop import with ssl enabled db and I am trying connecting through oracle wallet but getting network adapter issues. Could you please provide me the steps if it is working fine for you ? Thank you.

Thanks for the reply and information. We do have Resource Pools set up now...but more by function. However...from what you are saying (and from the few things I have seen), the only way for us to get what we want is to create resource pools per project/customer. I forgot about the Impala stuff....about them not being included. Thanks for mentioning that too. thank you!

Prequistes if you are doing Prod / Test (Provided if you have huge amount of data in that desired datanode that you are going to decommision. Increase the Datanode network bandwidh. Maximum number of replication threads on a DataNode and Hard limit on the number of replication threads on a DataNode Click on the Host that has Datanode Role - Perform Decommision and once the decommissioned is finished that you can monitor in the Namenode Web UI 50070 . Sometime I would rather leave it as decommisioned state and later if you want to include the instance back as for scalability you follow the above same procedure instead of decommision u will click recommision that it joins back to the cluster . if you want to delete the instance after decommisioning please follow the manual http://www.cloudera.com/documentation/manager/5-1-x/Cloudera-Manager-Managing-Clusters/cm5mc_role_instances.html#cmug_topic_5_2__section_xwx_hvt_cn if you need more information please let me know

Hi all ... According to Cloudera support the date value "...is an epoch timestamp includes milliseconds, which makes the the timestamp three digits longer than the date converter expects. You can either remove the last three characters using a substring function, or insert a period before the millisecond digits. Either of these commands will provide the correct timestamp for 1491020099000: date --date='@1491020099' date --date='@1491020099.000'" So...if anyone else needs to know! ...douglas
