I need to upgrade a cluster from 2.4.2 to 2.5. Shouldn't we be following this link: http://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/Ambari-2.5.0.3/bk_ambari-upgrade/bk_ambari-upgrade.pdf? We are going TO 2.5.

@narender pasunooti you can configure log4j using the default template http://spark.apache.org/docs/latest/configuration.html#configuring-logging Spark ships a template called log4.properties.template in the conf directory that you can copy and modify https://github.com/apache/spark/blob/master/conf/log4j.properties.template

@narender pasunooti Ubuntu 15 is not supported in HDP 2.4/2.4.2 https://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/HDP2/HDP-2.4.2/bk_HDP_RelNotes/content/upgrade_procedure.html Consider using Ubuntu 14, which is supported.

@narender pasunooti Ubuntu 15 is not supported in HDP 2.4, please refer to http://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/Ambari-2.2.2.0/bk_Installing_HDP_AMB/content/_operating_systems_requirements.html for a list of operating systems supported. Out of those, Ubuntu 14.04 might be a good option for you.

This solution worked for me. For some reason systemctl makes ROOT to be set as /etc, breaking the process. I am running Centos7 too, could someone else verify this? Have you reported this bug?
