@Michael Bronson, Safe mode above applies only for NameNode and not for any other services/components. The above command gives you the safe mode status of 2 nodes (Active NameNode and standby NameNode) You can read more about safe mode from the below links http://hadooptutorial.info/safe-mode-in-hadoop/ http://data-flair.training/forums/topic/what-is-safemode-in-hadoop Thanks, Aditya

@Vijay Mishra, Do you have atlas client installed on the node from where you are running beeline. If not, can you please run the command and try again. curl -k -u {ambari-username}:{ambari-password} -H "X-Requested-By:ambari" -i -X PUT -d '{"HostRoles": {"state": "INSTALLED"}}' http://{ambari-host}:{ambari-port}/api/v1/clusters/{clustername}/hosts/{hostname}/host_components/ATLAS_CLIENT Replace ambari-username, ambari-password, ambari-host, ambari-port, clustername with their respective values in the url. Replace {hostname} with the hostname where you are running beeline client. Thanks, Aditya

@Michael Bronson, These are not calculated during ambari installation. These are calculated by the stack advisor which is called when we change any configuration and try to restart our service (or) for the first time when you add the service. Stack advisor populates the recommended configurations in the respective fields based on the system's resources.

@Michael Bronson, These parameters are calculated by the stack advisor based on the host's memory and CPU info. You can check the code in /var/lib/ambari-server/resources/stacks/HDP/2.2/services/stack_advisor.py under recommendYARNConfigurations method Thanks, Aditya

@Michael Bronson, It will be 80% of your vCPUs on the machine. If you have 3 machines with 16 cores , then it will be 80% of 16 ie 12.8. It will take the floor value of 12.8 and set it as 12. You can get the cpus by running the command cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep processor | wc -l If there are multiple node managers with different vCPU count , it will take the max of all the vCPUs Thanks, Aditya
