CDH 5.5 running on Centos 7 upgrading to RHEL8

I am currently running Hbase CDH 5.5 on Centos 7. I need to upgrade to RHEL8. Does CDH need to be upgraded as well ? What happens to the existing data ?

CDH 5.5 is not supported with RHEL 8.

RHEL 8 is only compatible with CDP 7.1.7 and above.

Can you export a snapshot from CDH5.5 in Centos7 to CDP 7.1.7 in RHEL8 in different zones ?
