Sounds good. Make sure all services did stop successfully and Namenode is in safemode before you reboot. Note: Before you patch your system make sure your backups are up2date. See this https://community.hortonworks.com/questions/4135/what-to-backup-and-how-only-metadata-not-data.html

Unfortunately, I can't. I found the notes in our internal Jira, where we tracked this issue under BUG-43012

I have forwarded this issue to my colleagues, who are responsible for the repositories. They will validate and fix the repositories as soon as possible.

Can you look into ambari and hdfs logs and check whether their is any message that has more details, especially what file/object Ambari is trying to decode? Do you see a repository for HDFS in Ranger? I have a cluster with NN HA and Ranger HDFS plugin enabled running on HDP 2.3.2 and Ambari 2.1.2.1 without any issues. Edit: What version of HDP and Ambari do you have?

Yes thats possible and necessary if you want to add services to your Ambari-server node. How does your Ambari Agent configuration look like? Make sure you have prepared the environment according to http://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/Ambari-2.1.2.1/bk_Installing_HDP_AMB/content/_prepare_the_environment.html, especially DNS settings.

Add the disks to the datanodes/server and mount them. Afterwards you should shutdown the datanode, add the new mountpoints to dfs.datanode.data.dir (e.g. /grid/hadoop/hdfs/dn /grid1/hadoop/hdfs/dn / grid2/hadoop/hdfs/dn,...) and restart the datanode.

Not sure what you're looking for. I mean each Datanode frequently sends a heartbeat and block report (list of av. blocks) to the Namenode. If a Datanode does not send a heartbeat before dfs.namenode.stale.datanode.interval is reached, the Datanode is marked dead.

I am not aware of any Fair Scheduler specific UI. To enable the Fair Scheduler change the scheduler class in yarn-site <property>
<name>yarn.resourcemanager.scheduler.class</name>
<value>org.apache.hadoop.yarn.server.resourcemanager.scheduler.fair.FairScheduler</value>
</property> Make sure yarn.scheduler.fair.allocation.file is pointing to your fair-scheduler.xml Check out https://hadoop.apache.org/docs/current/hadoop-yarn/hadoop-yarn-site/FairScheduler.html
