Hi @Vamsi N the "Files" view in Ambari Views is a file explorer for HDFS. You should see it in the dropdown for the views. If you don't see it under the Ambari account you are using, you can use the instructions that Jay has above to add an instance of the Files view.

@Robin Dong In Linux only iptables controls the Kernel based firewall. You might have firewalld in CentOS7 or ufw in Ubuntu but they're just an abstraction layer on top of iptables. So if 'iptables -L' doesn't show anything then it's all good. The Ambari iptables check is rudimentary and it doesn't know if the rules that exist still allow all the traffic. It only checks for 'service iptables status' or 'systemctl status firewalld', which means there are no filter tables. But please be aware of the cloud firewall as well. For example in AWS even instances in the same Security Group are not allowed by default to communicate with each another and this must be enabled explicitly: http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/security-group-rules-reference.html#sg-rules-other-instances

welp! That shows what happens when you are too "intelligent" to read through the basic stuff because you think you already know it. 😞 Thank you again @Lester Martin!! 😄

@Marshal Tito The hostname should be the node you have installed the hiveserver2 on. The username/pw should be a hadoop user you have created (or if using the Sandbox, one of the pre-created users such as maria_dev). Within Azure, make sure the port that you are connecting over is open (10000) from your tableau system to your hadoop cluster. Usually on public clouds, it is the closed firewall ports that is the issue.

I was also facing similar problem with maria_dev user. However when I logged in with admin user, "Hive view" was visible. In order to solve this problem, try changing the role of maria_dev user to "Cluster User". This can be done by logging in with admin user. Click on "Admin" then "Manage Ambari". Click on "Manage Roles" and then change the role of "maria_dev" user. , I was also facing similar issue with "maria_dev" user. However with admin user user I was able to see "Hive View". After changing the role of "maria_dev" user to "Cluster User", "Hive View" was visible.
