Dear Search, Cloudera Manager, and CDH users,
We are pleased to announce the general availability of Cloudera Search 1.0 along with the Cloudera Manager 4.7, Cloudera Navigator 1.1, and CDH4.4.0 releases.
Cloudera Search 1.0
After three months of public beta, and months of private beta before that, we are proud to present the general availability of Cloudera Search. We have now contributed back our innovation and IP around integration of Apache Solr and Apache Lucene with Cloudera’s Distribution including Apache Hadoop (CDH) back into the various projects, and completed a lot of hardening, integration, simplification, and packaging work.
Our Cloudera team has impressively delivered a number of highly attractive and valuable platform integrations:
Batch indexing via Apache MapReduce
Near real time indexing at ingest via Apache Flume and Apache HBase
Cloudera Manager integration for better production visibility and monitoring
SolrCloud deployment capabilities on Apache HDFS (index creation, storage, and serving from HDFS)
Cluster level access control (Kerberos authentication and impersonation)
Simplified data preparation for indexing across workloads via Cloudera Morphlines
Simple and configurable search application in Hue
Index aliasing -- ability to handle sliding window data through index mapping
GoLive feature -- ability to start serving indexes generated by MapReduce to running Solr services on the cluster, as they become readily available
Solr/CDH platform packaging
And much more…
Cloudera Search is supported on both CDH4.4 and CDH4.3 and can be deployed with Cloudera Manager 4.7.
Getting started with Cloudera Search:
Make sure you have CDH4.4 installed (CDH4.3 is also supported, but 4.4 is recommended). To download CDH4.4, go to the Downloads page.
For simplicity, we recommend using Cloudera Manager 4.7 to install and deploy Cloudera Search. You can find links to the documentation, download, and more information on the Downloads page.

Hello CDH, Search, and Cloudera Manager Users,
We are pleased to announce the release of Cloudera Search Beta version 0.9.3. This is the fourth drop of the Cloudera Search public Beta.
This version has bug fixes and adds the following features:
Support for Kerberos authentication. Search continues to use simple authentication with the anonymous user as the default configuration, but Search now supports changing the authentication scheme to Kerberos. All required packages are installed during the installation or upgrade process. Additional configuration is required before Kerberos is available in your environment.
Extended the morphlines library:
Added commands xquery, xslt, convertHTML for reading, extracting and transforming XML and HTML with XPath, XQuery and XSLT.
Added tokenizeText command that uses the embedded Solr/Lucene Analyzer library to generate tokens from a text string, without sending data to a Solr server.
Added translate command that examines each value in a given field and replaces it with the replacement value defined in a given dictionary, meaning a lookup hash table.
Changed the default to disable quoting and multi-line fields feature and comment line feature for the readCSV morphline command.
Morphline integration with the Lily HBase indexer.
Getting started with Cloudera Search:
Make sure you have CDH4.3 installed. Cloudera Search is only supported in CDH4.3 and above. To download CDH4.3, go to the Downloads page.
For simplicity, we recommend using Cloudera Manager 4.6 to install and deploy Cloudera Search. You can find links to the documentation, download, and more information on the Downloads page.
Providing Feedback - Once you get started, we encourage you to provide feedback:
Send your questions and feedback to search-user@cloudera.org or post on our community site http://community.cloudera.com/t5/Search/bd-p/Search
