I started a download using that link earlier today, on a (relatively) slow 18Mb-capable DSL line and it completed successfully in less than an hour. I don't have any helpful suggestions other than to try it again and if you still have the same issue, try it again on some other device's internet connection and move the resulting file over to the destination device once you have it.

@Zac1 Thank you for reporting this. I've been able to reproduce the behavior you've described and earlier today I opened an internal request to have the issue addressed. I'll post back in this thread when I have more information to share.

@marcelita_730 it's not at all obvious from your question what the context is for this error. Are you using Hive? Some other environment?
Please post a sample of the code, and the stack trace you're getting, if any.

Greetings All,
Cloudera's Mark Schoeni has a video out now giving folks some high level detail about how the Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) is "secure by design". Cloudera designed CDP to safeguard your organization's data within the virtual network of your chosen public cloud vendor. Also, they took all of the hard work associated with setting up security tools, such as kerberos, and automated it. This way the platform is secure and ready to start using right away. Here's his short video explaining these concepts, check it out:

The Cloudera Quickstart is a single-host deployment of the Cloudera open-source distribution, including CDH and Cloudera Manager. The purpose of it is to enable developers and operators to learn Hadoop and related software from the Hadoop ecosystem, to try out new ideas, and to test and demonstrate their applications.
Once you understand that, it's understandable that there's no easily-accessible guide to creating a multi-node hadoop cluster using the Cloudera Quickstart on VMs. While I believe it's possible to do, it would require a lot of manipulation of the configuration and deployment choices, and if one had the expertise to pull that off, it would defeat the purpose of the Quickstart as a distribution.
Perhaps some other member of the community knows how to do this and will create an article on how to do it or post a link to such a guide in this thread.

@emanueol as of this writing, I believe that XML attachments aren't allowed, but you can cut and paste the XML source code into the body of a post using the Insert/edit code sample feature of the editor.

Steve,
While it is based on the open source Apache Hadoop project's sources, the Cloudera Quickstart is not freely interchangeable with the Hadoop distribution version described at the site you read that guide on.
If you want to use the QuickStart VM, the appropriate instructions can be found at docs.cloudera.com.
If you want to download and use the Hadoop tarball referred to in the guide you mentioned, you will be much more likely to get a useful answer if you post your question to the comments section of the site you read that guide on.

Hi @emanueol, glad you found an answer to your question.
Just for future reference, it is possible for members of this community to include screen shots with their questions without relying on a public server to host them.
In the editor you use for composing your question, click the "camera" icon and you'll be allowed to upload a photo in any one of a few different formats. Here's an example that I produced from taking a screen shot of the editor:
