Installing Mahout in CDH5

Mahout is not a listed serivice in the Cloudera Manager (CM) list of services, thus I manually installed the package per the instructions from a Cloudera page .  CM complained because of the parcel / package mix, so uninstalled Mahout.

My question, can anyone point me to instructions to install Mahout in CDH5?

thanks

To answer my own question Mahout does not show as a service in Cloudera Manager, but the libraries are installed.

So if you install CDH, do not follow the Cloudera instructions to install Mahout as it included in the CDH release.

Will be grateful if you can list the steps to install mahout on CDH5. And if I have to use 'yum install mahout', should I use it on all machines on the cluster or just the namenode.

Thanks.

AKH,

While Mahout does not show as an installed service like Hive or Hbase, the
Mahout libraries are included in CDH 5.

>From a bash shell you can enter "mahout" and it will return the available
Mahout commands. Further you can execute a bash "locate mahout" command
and you will see the mahout parcels. I originally tried installing the
Mahout packages and the Cloudera Manager, generated error messages, as it
was already in a installed parcel, thus I uninstalled the packages. The
documentation on the Cloudera web site is incorrect, please do not follow
it.

So in the end there is nothing you must do as it is already in the distro.

I hope this helps.
