@Neeraj Sabharwal I am still facing the same issue, can you please help. Ambari version been used here is 2.2.2.0 with postgresql 9.2.18 on rhel 7. This happens to us most of the time. I have made sure that agents on all hosts are running and are pointing toward the ambari server, iptables, selinux are disabled. /etc/hosts are updated correctly. I am registering Ambari blueprint via API through Ansible and then cluster creation template also via API through Ansible in automated way. What could be the reason behind this?

exactly, its basically the content of these two fields from ambari UI => As you pointed out, the actual root cause is usually available in the individual service log -> /var/log/...

The fact that distcp works with some configurations indicates you probably have Security set up right, as well as giving you an obvious work-around. To try to answer your question, please provide some clarifying information: When you speak of mapred-client.xml, do you mean mapred-site.xml on the client machine? When you speak of changing the framework, do you mean the "mapreduce.framework.name" configuration parameter in mapred-side.xml? Do you change it only on the client machine, or throughout both clusters? The allowed values of that parameter are "local", "classic", and "yarn". When you change it to not be "yarn", what do you set it to? Do you have "mapreduce.application.framework.path" set? If so, to what value?

Additional Notes: If you are using Hive View, you have to adjust additional configurations via Ambari.

ORC is considering adding a faster decompression in 2016 - zstd (ZStandard). The enum values for that has already been reserved, but until we work through the trade-offs involved in ZStd - more on that sometime later this year.
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ORC-46 But bigger wins are in motion for ORC with LLAP, the in-memory format for LLAP isn't compressed at all - so it performs like ORC without compression overheads, while letting the cold data on disk sit around in Zlib.

Well, it seems 600 characters wasn't enough for to supply enough of the back story @Peter Coates, so I added some high-level details in my original answer. I'd be glad to share more fine-grained info via email if you'd like.

Honestly I was thinking data ingestion node and temp folder 🙂 Maybe NFS Gateway would be an option, however its not really made for lots of large files and I still have to consider network failures.
